Norwich is my main working area, where I provide handyman services, home repairs and property maintenance across the city’s residential neighbourhoods. From the historic streets near the city centre to established suburbs and newer developments, I regularly visit customers throughout Norwich.
I’ve provided professional handyman services since 2014, with practical home improvement experience dating back to 1999. My work includes plumbing repairs, furniture assembly, painting and decorating, household repairs and general property maintenance.
This page covers the Norwich neighbourhoods I visit, examples of completed local jobs and information about arranging work in your area.
Working Across Norwich’s Historic Streets and Neighbourhoods
Norwich has a distinctive architectural character, with Norwich Castle overlooking the city centre, Norwich Cathedral near the historic streets of Tombland and Bishopgate, and medieval parish churches scattered throughout the city.
Churches such as St Peter Mancroft beside Norwich Market, St Giles Church and St Julian’s Church are reminders of the city’s long history. Many feature traditional flint construction, a material also found in historic buildings and boundary walls across Norfolk.
Beyond its historic landmarks, Norwich has developed through several periods of residential expansion. Streets around Newmarket Road and Christchurch Road sit alongside established suburban neighbourhoods, post-war estates and modern developments, each with its own building characteristics.
Older homes can present different maintenance challenges from newer properties. Uneven plasterwork, layers of old paint on detailed woodwork, ageing fittings and repairs carried out over many years can all affect how a job needs to be approached.
My work around Norwich includes maintaining and repairing these different types of properties, with an emphasis on practical solutions suited to the job.
Norwich Neighbourhoods We Cover
I undertake work across Norwich, including postcode districts NR1 to NR8. The following areas are examples of the neighbourhoods and nearby communities covered.
City Centre, Thorpe Hamlet and King Street – NR1
Covering residential streets around the city centre, Thorpe Hamlet, Riverside and King Street, including areas near Norwich Castle and the Cathedral. Housing includes older terraces, converted buildings, apartments and modern residential developments.
Golden Triangle, Unthank Road and Earlham Road – NR2
The Golden Triangle is particularly well known for its Victorian and Edwardian terraced and detached houses. Traditional doors, detailed timberwork, older plaster walls and original fittings are common features of properties in this part of Norwich.
Mile Cross, New Catton and North Norwich – NR3
North of the city centre, neighbourhoods such as Mile Cross and New Catton contain a mixture of traditional terraced houses, interwar housing and later residential developments.
Eaton and South Norwich – NR4
Eaton and the surrounding residential neighbourhoods contain established family homes, older detached and semi-detached properties and newer housing. I undertake general home repairs and maintenance throughout this part of Norwich.
Earlham and Bowthorpe – NR5
To the west of Norwich, Earlham and Bowthorpe include a mixture of post-war housing and more recent residential developments. Nearby Costessey is also within my working area.
North Norwich – NR6
I also cover residential neighbourhoods in the northern part of Norwich, including areas around Hellesdon and nearby Old Catton, subject to availability.
Heartsease and East Norwich – NR7
Heartsease is one of Norwich’s established residential neighbourhoods, with many mid-20th-century houses alongside later developments.
West and Northwest Norwich – NR8
I undertake work in the NR8 postcode district, including nearby residential communities to the west and northwest of Norwich.

Although Norwich is my main service area, I also undertake jobs in neighbouring communities, including:
- Costessey and New Costessey
- Sprowston
- Thorpe St Andrew

Recent Handyman Jobs Completed in Norwich
These examples show some of the different types of repairs and maintenance I’ve carried out for customers across the city.
Victorian Wrought-Iron Fence Restoration – Wymer Street, Norwich NR2
At a Victorian terraced property in Wymer Street, the original wrought-iron fence had deteriorating paintwork, with peeling areas and an uneven finish.
I rubbed down and prepared the existing metalwork before repainting the fence in gloss black Hammerite. The finished work improved its appearance while retaining the character of the original ironwork.
Kitchen Drawer Repair – Norwich NR3
A kitchen drawer had a damaged front and broken runner, leaving it difficult to use properly. Rather than replacing the drawer, I repaired the damaged components and restored it to working order.
Toilet Pipework Adaptation – Finch Close, Heartsease NR7
A homeowner had replaced a toilet cistern fill valve but was unable to reconnect the existing copper water supply pipe.
The pipework needed adapting to suit the replacement valve. I fitted a 500 mm flexible connector together with a new section of 15 mm copper pipe to complete the connection.
